Wisdom Teeth & May Beauty Empties

Long time no blog! If you didn’t hear via the social media, I took a little blog break last week while I got my wisdom teeth out. Prior to Thursday’s surgery, you could say my week was interesting. Also TL;DR for those that need it: Last week sucked, I didn’t die during surgery, and now I’m back. For those that do want to read, read on!

The night before surgery, my driver’s seat in my car backed over a can that had rolled from the trunk and was rendered unusable. This means Dave had to drive me all cramped into the front seat (it got stuck between how I sit and how he sits) to the surgery appointment and back since I wasn’t allowed to drive. He took it in after my surgery, and they diagnosed it as a computer issue and ordered a part. The next day we got a call that the part didn’t fix it, and they had to keep it all weekend. Keep in mind, we share my car since we commute together, and since I can’t eat normal food, we didn’t have enough food stocked for the weekend. Needless to say we were freaking out a bit!

About an hour and a half later after trying to get a rental car and adjusting Dave’s weekend plans, we got call back from the dealership that they’d fixed it after all. They didn’t mention what the actual problem was though, which I thought was odd. Upon arrival to pick the car up, miss nosy over here had to know the problem. Can you guess what was wrong?

The seat was unplugged. Yes, really. Apparently it takes 2 days to figure that one out. Sigh.

Combine the car mishap and the fact that our house basically looks like hoarders live here since (our flooring was installed last weekend, then painters finished during the week), it just was not an awesome way to go into this surgery. And definitely not the most relaxing environment for recovery, but whatever. This is life and it’s not always predictable.

I’m just glad I was able to take 2 days off work and had the weekend off to recover. I had 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed, and the bottom 2 were especially pleasant since they were in the bone. My jaw has basically been killing me, as the lower 2 are the ones hurting me the most. Luckily a little Ibuprofen has been enough to keep me sane, and I’m crossing my fingers I can make it through a full day of work tomorrow.

I thought I’d be able to get all sorts of blogging done during my “break” but I spent most of it watching Pretty Little Liars, YouTube, and taking naps. Who knew oral surgery would be so exhausting?

Anyways I won’t bore you anymore, but speaking of YouTube, I have a video for you today! I filmed my beauty empties for the month of May and mini reviews of each product I used up. Oh gosh, I had my wisdom teeth taken out when I was in 8th grade and it was awful! My jaws/cheeks were swollen and bruised for almost 2 months! I had the same problem you did, impacted. They were actually trying to grow into my jawbone since I didn’t have any room for them in my mouth…so they had to break my jaw to get them out. Horrible!! Ugh…I hope you make it through work okay!

Oh my gosh 2 months?! Ouch! I had 2 lower teeth that were “completely bony” extractions and 2 up top that were “partially bony” so my lower ones were in my jaw but I guess not bad enough for them to have to break the jaw. That sounds traumatic!

I can’t believe it took them so long to figure out that the seat was unplugged! That’s so silly. I’m glad your wisdom teeth experience wasn’t too terrible, although I’m sorry you’re feeling so much pain!

Thanks Christine! Luckily the pain is better and managed with Ibuprofen. I will be happy when it’s all healed up though! ;)

I can’t believe it took them so long to figure out your seat was unplugged! I got my wisdom teeth out when I was 22, and it was no fun. One of mine had been infected before the surgery, so the healing took longer. I couldn’t eat solid food for like a month. :(

Oh no! That doesn’t sound fun. I’d been putting mine off for about 4 years (I was supposed to get them out at 22… my bad.) but luckily no infections, just very impacted!

I’ll be able to tell you my wisdom teeth story in a few weeks! My car’s in the shop now, transmission issues (luckily it’s under warranty), but I’m super glad it didn’t happen around surgery! Glad you’re all healed up :D

Oh no, transmission issues?! At least it’s under warranty. Yes, keep me updated on your surgery! I hope it all goes well!

Uggggh getting oral surgery definitely isn’t a relaxing vacation. I had my wisdom teeth out several years ago, but I remember spending most of the following week doing nothing but watching movies and eating yogurt, haha. I did try going out to the movies one night, but I kept having to go to the bathroom to change the bloody cotton in my mouth. Exciting! I hope you recover soon.

Haha! Oh no, that sounds terrible. I definitely went through a lot of tissue the first day. So gross! Definitely past that now, just some lingering discomfort. Thanks Rebecca! :)

Oh man, I can’t believe it took that long to figure out that your seat was unplugged either. At least you’re feeling better! Getting your wisdom teeth out is not a fun experience. Watching youtube was definitely the best way to recover :-]

I had my wisdom teeth taken out my freshman year of college. No fun!! Seriously, sometimes I just wnt to sell my car because things like that happen to me all the time. It always takes too long to fix, is way too expensive, and usually ends up as something minor.

Aren’t cars annoying?! I was so glad they waived fees as they said it’s still covered by the warranty, but I’ve had my share of headdesk car problems in the past!
