10 Budget Friendly Shopping Destinations

A few months ago, my blog friend Ashten from Always Ashten asked on Twitter where she should be shopping. Since I have a million opinions on this matter, I obviously had some places to share… too many for Twitter even. So many, in fact, that I sent her way too long of an email with all of my recommendations. And then I realized… this would make a good blog post, because I bet others are looking for new places to check out too. I did a little more research and combed my inbox and web history to see where I had been shopping recently.

So without further ado…10 Budget Friendly Shopping Destinations / hellorigby!

1. Thredup – I first discovered ThredUp when they were running some sort of promo last Black Friday for $20 off your first order. After shipping, I got a brand new coat for $8.  Yep, amazing. They just sent me a coupon code for 40% off an entire order too which is awesome (use code ” “) and if you use my referral link, we both get $10! Continue reading

Survey says…

Last month, I asked for your thoughts and opinions, and you shocked me with a ton of positivity and even better, helpful criticism! Thanks so much for that, I sure appreciate each and every 267 of you who took my survey and told me what you thought about this little old young blog!

Survey Says

Since I’m sure you’re dying of curiosity (or maybe you’re not, that’s cool) I thought I’d share the results of my survey, and my thoughts on what you had to say! I promise I’m not throwing anyone under the bus (it was anonymous, after all) but I may or may not be responding to some of your comments and critiques below. Continue reading

Budget Recap September 2014

Affiliate Links
I’ve been thinking a lot about shopping and budgeting this past month. Why I do it, how it benefits me, if I should share it on the blog, and so on. I thought I’d take a step back before I share what I bought last month and share why I post about it. As much as I’d like to say it is for you, it’s really not. It’s for me. I don’t need a post, I keep a little running tally each month that reminds me every time I’m thinking about adding something to the proverbial shopping cart. But it is nice to also visualize it at the end of the month, to see it all laid out, and to think again about whether or not I am getting value from my purchases.

What’s been nice about blogging about my budget and shopping habits is that it really has changed the way I perceive individual pieces and their quality. I’m doing a better job of realizing that if I can’t visualize myself wearing something more than once, then it really doesn’t belong in my closet.

When I was in college, I couldn’t afford any “big”  purchases so I shopped at places like Ross and Forver 21 almost exclusively. I bought low-quality pieces that would last me a season. It’s a tough habit to break. But I’m working on it, and that’s what has kept me writing about this topic. I love budget shopping and striking a deal as much as the next girl, and that’s still a huge part of who I am and what I buy. But I also have grown to appreciate things that will last in the longer term and may be worth going “out of budget” for too.

Anyways. On to the good stuff.

Rigby Reviews I and Love and You

If you like cute pictures of Rigby, well, this is your post. Rigby’s hanging out on the blog today to tell you all about his experiences with I and love and you raw dog food, in his own words. Take it away, little man!

Arroooo mommy’s blog humans! I’m back to tell you about this funky fresh food that mom’s been feeding me lately. I say funky, because mom has to do all this weird stuff in the sink with it before she gives it to me. I don’t understand why I can’t just eat it straight out of the bag, but I digress. I am just a dog. A really cute one, apparently. Humom tells me all the time that someone said I was cute on Twitter or Instagram. Thanks blog humans, I’m sure you’re cute too!

What I Put On My Face

…Or I could title this seriously and call it “My Favorite Skin Care Products for Acne Prone Dry Skin.” But that’s less fun, so I’m leaving it.

And yeah, you read that right, this acne suffering chick has dry skin, not an oil slick. As my esthetician (the fancy name for Lexi, my girl at skoah where I get facials) tells me, its the dry skin that’s at least partially responsible for my break outs and clogged pores. Awesome, right?

But in all seriousness, I thought it’d be fun to share my favorite skin care, because some of these items have saved my life (slight exaggeration) and made me much happier come that special time of the month.

Full disclosure, I did receive one of these items as a press sample, but I was not paid to write this post, just asked to review it. But because straight up product reviews are boring and I’ve had my daily skin care regimen in my drafts for awhile, I figured now was as good as time as any to share it. :)
