Million Dollar View // “noo” adventures

Sponsored Post: This post is graciously sponsored by noosa yoghurt, who encouraged me to go out and experience something “noo” in my city. All opinions about the delicious yoghurt are my own!

It was a cool, crisp morning last Sunday when Dave and I ventured into the unknown. Okay, that sounds way more dramatic than it actually was. We hopped into the car with little Rigby and headed up to the mountain. Cougar Mountain, that is, which is actually in our ‘hood and is somewhere we’ve never gone to even though it’s only about 15 minutes from door to trailhead. It’s funny, when you live somewhere like the Pacific Northwest you become so used to be around such beautiful trails and wooded areas that you forget to actually go see them.

Rigby is a huge fan of going “noo” places. Well, actually, I’m pretty sure he was freaked out about this because I may have said something about going to the vet, but I digress. (I troll my dog, what can I say.) As soon as we arrived at our destination he was beyond stoked. I think it was the scent of bears and other woodland creatures that excited him most.

What I Bought, Read, & Used Up: October

Affiliate Links: If you click a link in this post, I may make a small commission. I paid for all items in this post unless otherwise noted.

I think I say this every single month, but honestly, how is it already November?! October just flew by and was an incredibly busy month, hence why this is a little late! Being busy is always good for my wallet, as it means less free time for me to spend shopping. I believe my purchases (or lack there of) this month really reflects that as well. Without further ado, onto what I’ve been buying, reading, and using up recently!

Stitch Fix: I kept this cute plaid shirt that I’ve since worn a ton to work. It works great under a leather jacket for a night out, and it’s super simple to pop on for a day at the office.

Stitch Fix November 2015

Affiliate Links: If you click a link below, I may receive a small commission if you sign up. I pay for this subscription.

Happy November! Of course I kicked off the month with another Stitch Fix. I’m always surprised at when these show up on my door step because it signifies another close to another month. Kind of bittersweet, but with November comes Thanksgiving, and we’re another month closer to Christmas, my favorite holiday of course!

I won’t lie: this month’s Stitch Fix isn’t my favorite. My old stylist, Kim, seems to be MIA and I’m now being styled by Kate. While I think she did a good job of sticking to my style profile and following things I’ve pinned recently, I just am not blown away by any one piece. You’ll have to give me your feedback in the comments below, as I still have one more day to consider keeping any of the items! Without further ado, onto this month’s Stitch Fix!

My Thoughts on The KonMari Method & Recycling My Joyless Items

Sponsored Post: I am being compensated by Value Village for this post. All opinions on their new donation drop offs in Seattle are my own. :)

A couple of months ago, I picked up The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo. This is probably one of the most hyped up books I think I’ve ever heard about. It seems like everyone, their mom, their grandma, and their cousins are talking about it. Posting to Instagram about it brought a lot of comments like “it will change your life!” and “I’m so curious, let me know how it is!”

Thoughts on The KonMari Method & Giving New Life to Joyless Things // hellorigby seattle lifestyle blog

So, I thought I’d tell you how it was. Spoiler alert: It didn’t change my life. It did, however, reaffirm a lot of what I’d always known about tidying but didn’t necessarily always follow.

60s Mod Makeup & Costume

Affiliate Links: If you click on a link in this post, I may make a very small commission. Dedra Beauty also sent product for consideration, but I’m sharing them because I like & use them. :)

With Halloween just a few days away, I planned one last costume that you could throw together at the last possible second, or use for a future themed costume party! It’s a Twiggy-inspired 60s mod makeup look, topped off with a couple of key pieces that you can either quickly make or already own.

DIY 60s Mod Makeup Tutorial & Costume

With no time to waste, let’s jump into the makeup look! When googling images of Twiggy, I noticed that her makeup often looked a bit messy and unblended. The  good news? Any skill level can create this look! There are a lot of steps you can leave out depending on what products you already own too.
