Stitch Fix February 2015

I’m sure Stitch Fix isn’t anything new to you, but if it is – here’s a quick debrief. Sign up for a fix (you can use my link to sign up; if you do, thank you!) You’ll pay a $20 styling fee upfront on shipment. You receive a box containing 5 items based on a customized style profile. You then receive the shipment, have 3 days to try on the goods, and keep what you like, less the $20 fee. If you keep nothing, you do lose the $20 fee. Package it back up in the return envelope, drop it at the post office, and check out online. That’s it. No in-store returns… those are my least favorite part of shopping online! ;)

After my last terrible fix in June, I figured I’d be a glutton for punishment and order another. Why? Because I’m nuts and it would come in time for my birthday. I mean, there’s nothing that screams fun like getting potentially awful clothes, right?

Right!

The good news is that I didn’t end up getting awful clothes. I would actually venture to say that this is the best fix I’ve received. This is based on a small sampling, as I’ve only received 2 others, but I do like to creep on what other people get so I’ve seen quite a few fixes.

Without further ado… onto the clothes and my thoughts. At the end, tell me what you think I should keep – I have one day left to decide and I may be waffling a bit still.

Pixley Colibri Heart Print Tab-Sleeve Blouse in Navy, $48
Oh, petite girl problems. The fit on the left is straight out of the box. I tucked it in on the right and like it much better. I love the print and think it’s fun for Valentine’s Day without being unwearable for the other 364 days of the year.

A Turtleneck Outfit… & 26

This weekend I’ll be celebrating my 26th birthday. It seems nuts that I’m going to be 26… I remember turning 16 and thinking I was so grown up and mature. I wasn’t, and I assume in about 10 years I’ll be looking back at 26 and thinking the same thing.

I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my 26 years, but I’ve also done a lot of pretty good things too. Starting this blog is definitely one of them. It’s odd to me how something that I started on a whim could change my life in such a (mostly) positive way. It’s draining, time-consuming, and exhausting, but when I get a compliment, a positive comment, or someone tweeting at me how much they liked something I shared, it still is thrilling. I only wish I had started this space sooner.

I am a Statistic

I am, unfortunately, one of the 1 in 5 college-aged women who has been sexually assaulted. And if that isn’t warning enough, let me put it bluntly: if you’re easily upset, this post may not be for you.

5 Top Lush Products & Valentine’s Giveaway

I’m not that new to Lush, I always buy a bath bomb before we take a trip somewhere with a soaking tub. BUT, I never really bought into the hype about most of the skin products. That is, until recently. I had the world’s worst break out around Christmas. It had been brewing for awhile, but it really went psycho. I don’t know if it was the stress of all the things going on around the holidays, my hormones playing mean tricks, or what, but a few things that found their way under the tree from Lush made a huge difference.

Herbalism Cleanser: I have dry skin, so I try to avoid using anything abrasive… but the almonds in this don’t seem to irritate my skin. I wash my face once a day at night (you know, to remove makeup and all that fun stuff) and alternate this every other day with a gentle cream cleanser. Keeps the dry skin flakies at bay, and keeps my face nice a clear.

Green(ish) Smoothies with Pure Earth Juice

Sponsored Post: I am being compensated by Linqia in partnership with Pure Earth Juice for this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed an onslaught of smoothie photos recently. I had a few on vacation and basically got addicted (again). Smoothies used to be my snack of choice after class in high school. I would come home and experiment with all sorts of recipes. My favorite was chocolate peanut butter and frozen yogurt smoothies, but I also liked trying my hand at mixing and matching fruit flavors.

These days, I try to pick smoothies that incorporate veggies too. With the recent kale fad, I’ve definitely had my fair share of super dark, green smoothies… but I’ve never made these at home. When Del Monte reached out and asked if I’d fit their new juice products into my morning routine I couldn’t say no.  It just made perfect sense – it gave me an excuse to craft up all sorts of new smoothie recipes AND would help me get back on track to eating healthy. Vacations are good at derailing that. I also decided it was as good of a time as any to ditch our old blender and get a new one. What can I say, any excuse to shop.

I’m starting small; for these, I grabbed a bag of spinach, some new Del Monte Pure Earth Juice, and some other goodies and made a couple of batches that shouldn’t scare those who have yet to jump into the green smoothie fad. These are just greenish. ;)
