I Wanted To Be a Fashion Designer

I was reminded when writing about my #FaceForward and future goals that I never wanted to work in technology. Not really, anyway. I had dreams of going to New York and being a fashion designer. Mind you, this was before the Project Runway days so I truly had a very limited picture of what the grueling behind-the-scenes life of a fashion designer looked like, but still, that’s what I was convinced I wanted to do.

I wouldn’t say that my parents particularly discouraged it, but my mom definitely did not encourage me to move so far away. For most of my childhood, my mom was known as the “quilt lady.” To say that sewing was in my blood is an understatement. I spent most of my childhood either wrapped in a quilt my mom made, or someone else she met along the way had made. I learned to sew when I was about 5 or 6 and entered my first quilt in the local state fair. (Nerd alert!) I ended up taking home multiple ribbons, including Best in Show (for my age category… not the big leagues!), first place, and a few other awards.

Stitch Fix August 2015 Review & Giveaway

Affiliate Links: If you click a link below, I may receive credit if you sign up. I pay for this subscription.

Another month, another Stitch Fix! I always get excited to receive a package on my doorstep every other month or so from Stitch Fix. To recap, Stitch Fix is a clothing service that you can schedule monthly or to fit your schedule. For a $20 styling fee (which is put towards anything you keep) you’ll receive a box of 4 clothing items and one accessory. They pick items based on your size and style profile. It’s always a fun surprise to see what my stylist, Kimberly, has picked out for me. This month I totally spaced it and hadn’t updated my Pinterest Fashion Board with anything from Stitch Fix I’d been eyeing, so it was interesting to see what Kimberly had picked for me on her own!

Overall, I think she did an awesome job, but to be honest, after the #NSale shopping I was feeling a little guilty and decided not to keep anything for myself. However, I did still keep something… but it’s for one of you! Read on to find out what I received this month, and what I’m giving away. :)

July Favorites: Rigby Edition

Product Sample: Complimentary product samples were provided to me in exchange for this review from Chewy.com, Martha Stewart Pets, Bravo, and Earth Rated. All opinions are my own. Affiliate Links: If you click on a link in this post, I may make a very small commission.

It’s been awhile since Rigby’s was last on the blog, and I figured it’s about time I round up some of his absolute favorite products. In general, Rigby’s a pretty easy customer. He likes most toys, at least long enough for me to feel okay about spending the money on them. He’s past the destroy-all-the-things puppy phase, so he’s not really into the stuffed toys so much. Instead, we try to grab things that will keep him entertained for longer than the time it takes to chew through a toy. And he’s a cookie monster, and rarely does he meet a food item he doesn’t like. However, there are some that seem to spark and keep his interest longer than others.

And to be totally fair, some of these are things Rigby could care less about, and are my favorites. You’ll see why. Now onto the favorites!

Weekend in London {Vlog & Europe Trip Recap #4}

After flying for a million hours and staying one day in Paris, we hopped another flight to spend the very first weekend of our Europe trip in London. We stayed in Trafalgar Square, which ended up being the heart of the action. The Pride Festival action, anyways. I was surprised to see far less nudity than what I’m used to seeing from our Seattle festivals, and overall most people kept to themselves or joined in the screaming with the rest of the crowd.

What I Bought in July

If I’m honest, I totally overspent this month. Between the trip to Paris and London, I stocked up on way too many beauty products that would take me hours to locate online… so I will save that for another post. Ironically, I didn’t end up with much in terms of new clothes this month, even despite my shopping in Europe. Even the temptation of the #NSale didn’t end up panning out – most of what I ordered was a dud and got sent back. I did, however, stock up on some basics like bras and underwear (which I also don’t count into my budget, because these things are necessary.) I highly suggest checking those items out in case you’re in need as well.

Anyways – onward with what I did end up buying, returning, and receiving in July!
