Summer Hair Care Favorites

Come summer my hair is quite different from the rest of the year. I find it’s quick to get greasy at the roots, but the ends stay dry. When we get summer rainstorms, I can always tell because my hair starts frizzing away. I’ve tried to be better about choosing products for my hair to keep it in line, but I’m more of a dry-and-go kind of girl then a blow-out-and-curl. What can I say, I’m kind of lazy… and I like my products to be lazy-girl-friendly too.

So what have I been trying out this summer? A few oldies and a few new ones. Read on to find out what I’m liking to tame my hair this summer.

Happy Friday! I can’t be the only one who’s felt like this week just dragged on and on, right? This weekend isn’t going to be that exciting, but my goal is to get our home office all set up… which also includes my brand new makeup vanity and storage. Insert squeal here. I’ve been dying for space to “get ready” forever and am so glad it’s almost reality!

Emerald Cuff Seattle Clothing Subscription Review & Styling // hellorigby seattle fashion blog

Speaking of brand new… You guys know my love for clothing “subscription” services already, so when I received an email from Emerald Cuff, I couldn’t wait to check it out. They’re a brand new, local, Seattle-based operation, and the brainchild of 3 moms who wanted to create something for busy women – be it a career gal, a fellow mom, or a #girlboss. Unlike other clothing services (compared to say Stitch Fix or DailyLook Elite Box), Emerald Cuff releases new collections every month that you can choose from. This is not an automatic charge, and you do not need to opt out.

In 5 Years I… #FaceForward

Sponsored Post: Today I am partnering with Clinique to #FaceForward and share what advice I would give my future self. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I’ve always fancied myself an entrepreneur. What can I say, it’s in my blood. I grew up helping my mom at her small business. By age 7 I had made $100 in one-day selling toys and clothes at a neighbor’s garage sale. At 10, I made decorative Thanksgiving Turkeys out of Hershey’s Kisses for an arts and crafts fair that sold out on the first day. (Yes, seriously. Embarrassing but true.) Since it was a two-day fair, my mom and I made a late night run to the craft and grocery stores so I could make more, and I sold out of those too. Pretty sure I made a killing (for a 10-year-old anyways!)

In 5 Years #FaceForward with Clinique // hellorigby seattle beauty blog

When I heard about the new Clinique #FaceForward campaign, it got me thinking about where I see myself in a few years. I had always thought that by 30, I would be a “businesswoman.” I envisioned myself dressing up every day, with a briefcase and power suit, off to  either a corporate job or running my own business. (And no, I’m not 30 yet, but I sometimes still feel like the kid that doesn’t know what they want to be when they grow up.)

Paris Day 1 & Off to London // Europe Travel Vlog #2 & 3

I hope you guys have been enjoying the vlogs because I have had fun making them! Honestly, I thought it was going to be such a pain to compile all the video I took but it’s been a fun way to relive our trip. I secretly think Dave is enjoying that I made them now too. He wasn’t into the idea of filming it at all and thought it was the most terribly embarrassing thing… but I think seeing the final product may have him thinking differently.

I think something interesting about vlogging is that because I focused on only filming short clips, I didn’t miss out on any part of our trip. My goal was just to create short snippets of our days, and not long monologs of me talking to the camera. While I do enjoy watching those sometimes, I just can’t imagine that it’s a great way to really experience travel.

Happy Friday!

Do you ever dream up an outfit in your head that you think will be the cutest thing ever and then put it on, and it looks awful? Yeah, I had that kind of situation. I was originally going to wear a kimono and patterned shorts with this top and necklace but… it looked terrible. In my brain, it still looks super cute. In real life, nope. So, when in doubt change it up!
