Valentines, Aztec, & Belle Hibou Giveaway

Well, the day is nearly upon us. To me, it’s Valentine’s Day. To some, a celebration of their gal-pals Galentine’s style. For others, it’s “Single Awareness Day”. For a long, long time I fell into the latter category. If you’re there and bummed about it, don’t be. It’ll change soon enough. ;)

I don’t know if you’ve figured this out about me yet, but I’m not very romantic. Don’t get me wrong, I love the idea of romance. I love a good romantic comedy, a chick-lit book with a full on corny love story, and I’m kind of obsessed with idea of getting married (I blame all of the pretty engagement rings I’ve been forced to try on and all of my friends who’ve gotten engaged/married in recent years)…. but I’m not romantic, and I hate romantic gestures. They make me uncomfortable. I blame my childhood.

Stitch Fix February 2015

Affiliate Links: If you click a link below, I may receive a credit if you sign up. I pay for this subscription.

I’m sure Stitch Fix isn’t anything new to you, but if it is – here’s a quick debrief. Sign up for a fix (you can use my link to sign up; if you do, thank you!) You’ll pay a $20 styling fee upfront on shipment. You receive a box containing 5 items based on a customized style profile. You then receive the shipment, have 3 days to try on the goods, and keep what you like, less the $20 fee. If you keep nothing, you do lose the $20 fee. Package it back up in the return envelope, drop it at the post office, and check out online. That’s it. No in-store returns… those are my least favorite part of shopping online! ;)

After my last terrible fix in June, I figured I’d be a glutton for punishment and order another. Why? Because I’m nuts and it would come in time for my birthday. I mean, there’s nothing that screams fun like getting potentially awful clothes, right?

Right!

The good news is that I didn’t end up getting awful clothes. I would actually venture to say that this is the best fix I’ve received. This is based on a small sampling, as I’ve only received 2 others, but I do like to creep on what other people get so I’ve seen quite a few fixes.

Without further ado… onto the clothes and my thoughts. At the end, tell me what you think I should keep – I have one day left to decide and I may be waffling a bit still.

Pixley Colibri Heart Print Tab-Sleeve Blouse in Navy, $48
Oh, petite girl problems. The fit on the left is straight out of the box. I tucked it in on the right and like it much better. I love the print and think it’s fun for Valentine’s Day without being unwearable for the other 364 days of the year.

A Turtleneck Outfit… & 26

This weekend I’ll be celebrating my 26th birthday. It seems nuts that I’m going to be 26… I remember turning 16 and thinking I was so grown up and mature. I wasn’t, and I assume in about 10 years I’ll be looking back at 26 and thinking the same thing.

I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my 26 years, but I’ve also done a lot of pretty good things too. Starting this blog is definitely one of them. It’s odd to me how something that I started on a whim could change my life in such a (mostly) positive way. It’s draining, time-consuming, and exhausting, but when I get a compliment, a positive comment, or someone tweeting at me how much they liked something I shared, it still is thrilling. I only wish I had started this space sooner.

January Budgeting Bloggers & Giveaway

Affiliate Links: If you click on a link in this post, I may make a very small commission.

Ah yes, it’s time to confess what I’ve bought this past month. I know, you’re on the edge of your seat, riveted and all. I actually didn’t go too crazy this month, despite extensive time shopping in Miami… and then buying nothing. I actually bought more FOR the trip than on the trip, so that’s good. Anyways, onto the budget reveal.

Casual Wednesday

Sitting  down to write tonight was hard. I’ve been staring off and on at this screen for about 2 hours, willing the words to flow. But I got nothing.

It’s not because I’m burnt out. It’s not because I don’t have specific subjects I could be writing… it’s because I’m disappointed. And this is the part of blogging that’s really rough – not being able to share everything, even when you feel crummy and you know it would help. Some things just can’t be public for a myriad of reasons.

But, if we’re being very general, something didn’t work out the way I would have hoped, and it sucks. I gave myself the night off last night from posting. I just was too exhausted by the thought of trying to write a happy-go-lucky post when it just wasn’t how I was feeling. But today was a new day, and it was better, but I’m still bummed. So, I let myself wallow a bit because sometimes life bring along disappointments, but I can’t let them define me.
