Holiday Gift Guide 2015

Affiliate Links / Product Samples

Happy Holidays! I’m officially kicking off the holiday season here on the blog now that we’ve passed Thanksgiving. I’m not about jumping the gun on things. Now that Thanksgiving and the mayhem of shopping that follows on Black Friday and Cyber Monday are behind us, it’s time to get into shopping for those we love (and maybe ourselves).

My family has always been very into Christmas. Tree farms, lights, indoor and outdoor decorations, Christmas music… you name it, we did it. Now that I’m a little bit older, I don’t go so crazy over Christmas, but it’s still my favorite time of year. The thing I don’t like? The crowds at the mall. Venturing out to the malls and stores has already been terrible this year… which is why I almost always do the majority of my shopping online. I prefer to give unique gifts, so often I avoid the Target and Amazons of the world (for the most part, they’re still helpful for some things!).

2015 Holiday Gift Guide

Today I want to share with you my first holiday gift guide of 2015 featuring a ton of things for various people on your list. I’ll have some more specific gift ideas (and giveaways!) in the coming weeks, but this is a general one-stop holiday shopping guide for everyone on your list. And, in the spirit of full disclosure, some of the great brands below reached out to me and offered items for both myself and for you. As always, if I didn’t love it, I wouldn’t include it.

Stitch Fix December & Giveaway

Affiliate Links

Another month, another Stitch Fix. And the last one of 2015! Pretty wild that we’re already into December. If you’re not familiar, Stitch Fix is essentially a personal styling service for those on a budget or with time constraints for shopping. Sign up, fill out a style profile, pay a $20 styling fee (that you can put towards your Fix), and wait for your box of 5 clothing items (maybe with an accessory or shoes, too!). You then can try each item on in the comfort of your home, select what you want to keep, and send the rest back in the prepaid mailing envelope.

I started my Stitch Fixes back up earlier this year and it seems to have hit a weird patch. My beloved stylist, Kimberly has vanished. Last month I had a new stylist, and again this month, a new one. Perhaps I’m a difficult customer? Who knows.

And that brings me to my bad news. I had another bust of a Stitch Fix. The good news for you? I’m starting Christmas early this year with a giveaway. Even if Stitch Fix isn’t always 100% on point for me, I thought it would be fun for someone to be able to try their own Stitch Fix risk-free by offering a $20 gift card to cover your styling fee. Even if the box isn’t 100% perfect, the experience and surprise still are! More on that below, but first, let’s take a peek at my December Stitch Fix!

DIY Willy Wonka Costume

I’ve loved the original 1970s Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory movie for about as long as I can remember. From the silly songs, memorable characters, and the amount of delicious looking sweets, for me, it’s a classic. I initially thought about dressing up like Veruca Salt, my favorite character, however, there’s nothing more memorable than Willy Wonka himself! I decided to put a feminine spin on this classic costume (without the sexy that the packaged versions go for). This DIY Willy Wonka Costume is made up of pieces that you may already have in your closet, plus a few things that can easily be found at your favorite thrift store.

Stitch Fix September Review (& Giveaway)

Affiliate Links: If you click a link below, I may receive a credit if you sign up. I pay for this subscription.

I try to shoot to get a Stitch Fix every other month, however with two weddings in the next two months, I thought I’d schedule an extra one to see if they could help me out. I absolutely hate special occasion dress shopping. Is it just me or every time you have an event to attend suddenly no stores seem to have your size or any reasonable dress options?! I’ve had this happen with multiple weddings and Christmas parties and it never ceases to frustrate me.

Unfortunately for me, neither dress Stitch Fix sent this month worked out. In fact, I’d say this was my worst fix to date. I liked the idea of the items. However, the fit was terrible on every item I received. The saving grace was the necklace. I already own something almost identical, but lucky for you I still kept it so I wouldn’t lose the styling fee. One of you will be able to win it down below! ;)Stitch Fix September 2015 Review & Styling // hellorigby seattle fashion blog

Outfit Outtakes #2 & NYFW Giveaway

It’s been a long while since I shared some outfit outtakes, and I thought today would be as good as time as any to do just that! My first outfit outtakes post was almost exactly one year ago, and trust me when I say I’ve collected quite a few horrible, hilarious, and unflattering photos since. I rounded up about 8 of the absolute goofiest shots to share, and hope you enjoy getting a good laugh out of my misfortune.

And then… the wind came up.
