So, since this is my first real holiday season of blogging, I figured I’d jump on the bandwagon of holiday guides. I thought I’d try to stick to topics I truly struggle with myself, in hopes that I’ll be able to make someone’s busy holiday season just a little easier.

My first guide is going to be party dresses! It’s one of the hardest things to shop for in my humble opinion. I always have an idea in mind of what I want, yet half the time when I go dress shopping in stores, I can’t find a thing. If I can make any recommendation to you, it’s to order several holiday dresses and order them now, so you don’t have to deal with the mall. Seriously, it’s the worst.

Happy Birthday, Little Man!

Today, my little man is two years old.

Today, I get to be that weirdo dog mom who writes a happy birthday letter to someone who will never even be able to understand it, let alone read it. To him, I am the provider of food. The person who takes him out to his proverbial toilet, who harasses him when I’m convinced he’s got something wrong with his insert body part here. The one who comforted him when he got attacked by another dog and screamed bloody murder for a good minute, and then rushed him to the vet the next day because I was convinced his wounds were infected already. (They weren’t. Pretty sure it can’t even happen that fast.) The one who tortured him by removing his manhood, and the one who he accidentally bit when he was choking on a too-large-for-him-trachea. My bad.

Thrifty Thursday: Oversized Sweater Outfit

I’ve had so much fun thrift shopping the past few months with Seattle Goodwill. I’ve found some really great pieces (enough to make two oversized sweater outfits… my favorite fall staple!) that have incorporated well into my wardrobe, and I’ve rekindled my love of the thrift. Now, as much as I love a good thrift find… I’m sure you’ve been burned before. I know I have. And I almost got burned with something in this very outfit. Have you ever found the perfect vintage item only to get it home and realized… it’s not so perfect? Like maybe you get a certain pair of boots home and a certain liner falls out? Yeah that would never happen…

As you may remember, I’ve shared my anxiety struggles here before. It’s one of those things that comes in waves for me. Some days I will be totally fine, and other days I will really struggle with it and it will go on and on. It’s frustrating – I’m a control freak, and not being able to control my own emotions and thoughts is incredibly stressful, which really just makes it worse.

I went to the doctor a few weeks ago and asked for help. I asked to be put on medication to make me feel better. And you know what happened? I filled the prescription and was too terrified to take it because of the awful side effects. (Yeah, I know, ironic.) Suicidal thoughts? Increased anxiety? Yeah, no thank you. So I’ve discussed it with family and decided I’m going to seek “alternative” therapy first. My first attempt at that is upping my exercise. Endorphins from exercise make you feel good, and hopefully I can channel my thousand and one thoughts into burning calories instead.

10 Simple Makeup Ideas & Giveaway!

I’ve been a fan of makeup for… as long as I can remember. Almost. I think I was about 12 when my mom let me loose on the Avon Catalog, and I ordered blue eyeshadow (because my eyes are blue, so duh!) and pink lip gloss. I probably looked horrible, or like a child of the 80s… errr 90s, but I thought it looked good, so who cares, right?

These days you won’t find much blue in my makeup bag, but as you may remember from my what’s in my makeup bag post, you will find a lot of neutrals. I personally prefer a simple look with a bit of a pop – be it a statement lip or a little shimmer.
