My final box from the DailyLook Elite Box 3-month trial came last week, and I was excited to see what was inside. My stylist, Rita, really appreciated everyone’s comments about my “figure skater” romper in April. ;) Hi, Rita!

This month… she killed it. I was so, so pleased with this box. There were items I had added to my closet on their site, riskier items I wouldn’t have picked for myself, and basics. All good things in my book. Want to see what I got? Read on!

Wantable Style Edit: May 2015

I think you should realize by now that I get kind of excited about these new fashion subscription boxes. Honestly, I know I’m not the target audience (I have no problems shopping for myself…) but I still enjoy seeing what these “stylists” will pick for me. And if you haven’t heard of Wantable yet, they already offer a ton of interesting subscription boxes, like for fitness, makeup, and accessories.

What I find is that the longer you receive them, the better they are about learning your style. I’m hoping the same is true for Wantable’s new Style Edit service. They introduced this in April, and I promptly signed up. However, my first Style Edit was far from impressive. I think the clothing they sent, in concept, is good. The fit and price point? Not a fan.

DailyLook Elite Box April 2015

Remember last month’s DailyLook? It was my first look at a fairly new styling service, similar to Stitch Fix. Both services assign you a stylist who then handpicks 5+ items and ships them off to you to try on, keep what you like, and return what you don’t. There is a $20 styling fee, but my first three months were waived for signing up during their trial period. They’ve reduced their free trial to 2 months, so if you haven’t tried it yet and are interested, you should sign up now! Here’s my referral link if you’re interested, I always appreciate it. :)

Anyways! I had a new stylist this month. She mentioned visiting my blog and social media sites, and keeping my feedback from last month in mind. She also had mentioned a shortage of spring/summer pieces, so I was super curious as to what was inside!

Stitch Fix April 2015

I decided to start receiving Stitch Fixes back in February after seeing some really cute clothes people were receiving. To me, it seems like they’ve stepped up their game in terms of supporting different styles other than a lot of the “mom” type button ups, drapey knit tees, and cardigans I had been seeing over and over. There’s nothing wrong with that, it just wasn’t what I was looking for.

Since my last Fix was pretty successful, I figured I’d try another one. I learned from my last Fix that pinning directly from their Polyvore account as well as keeping my fashion board full of looks that I liked really helps. I also left a few suggestions this month for my stylist, Kimberly, on what I’d like to see. I asked for boyfriend jeans or deconstructed skinny jeans. While they do their best to accommodate, they don’t always have the inventory of every item you may see in your size, so she did her best.

Golden Tote February 2015

If you’ve been reading for a while, you may have seen some pieces here and there from Golden Tote, or as part of my Budget recaps. It’s been awhile, but I figured I’d treat myself to a tote this month for my birthday.

Well… let’s just say it didn’t go exactly as planned. You’ll see why below, but first I’ll take a step back and explain a little more about Golden Tote from an insider’s perspective. (And I say insider as someone who actually purchases totes and doesn’t receive a “blogger tote” for review.)

I started following Golden Tote over a year ago and bought my first tote last February. It was love at first checkout. Their house brand, Puella, is made in California and very much has that California-cool-vibe. Their pieces are also sold at Anthropologie, dresses going for about $70-80 and tops for $50-60. When you buy a tote from Golden Tote though, you get to pick two pieces that they’ve curated for that month’s collection, and then 4-5 more are added to your tote by their “stylists” for $149. There’s also a smaller tote for $49 that lets you choose one item and they pick one or two other things for you. The small tote has a much smaller selection of items, however. You then fill out a quick survey/style profile and can add comments about things you do or don’t like.

Here’s the thing though: Golden Tote isn’t really customized. Not like Stitch Fix anyways. They basically have a pool of “surprise” items each month that they go and buy from smaller designers, then when your order is fulfilled, you are getting something from that pool. This used to work well for me, as I tend to gravitate towards boho and flowy pieces that they used to almost exclusively stock. Now? Well, it seems like Golden Tote and I may have parted ways in the style department.

Besides the unique way of shopping, Golden Tote also has a Facebook group that they encourage tote purchasers to join. You can then buy, sell, or trade items in the group with others, at your own risk, of course. This has proven valuable to me to get pieces a la carte since I haven’t bought totes for a while and only want a single piece. The other bonus? Tons of women who have a shopping/fashion obsession. We’ve had two meet-ups in my area and there are even off topic groups to participate in too.

Now that I’ve prepped you with some details about how it all works, onto the Golden Tote review!
