Jumpsuit with Denim Jacket

Oh, hey, it’s that jumpsuit again! It’s funny how certain outfits that I share extend the conversation about what we wear beyond this space. Since posting the last styling of this black jumpsuit, I’ve talked to a surprising amount of people about wearing jumpsuits and rompers. I learned that I’m not the only one to struggle to find the one that works, or the only person to wonder if they could “pull it off.” Hopefully, if you were in that camp, you’ve tried one out by now because honestly, I love both jumpsuits and rompers a bit too much.

Dailylook Elite August 2015

Another month, another Dailylook Elite box. I received this in July right around the same time as Stitch Fix, but I hate inundating you with too many reviews in one week so held this one back. This month was my first month with a new stylist. Rita, my former stylist, moved on to a position elsewhere, so I was assigned to Diane L. I didn’t ask for anything in particular this month. In fact, I meant to delay this box until right about now due to vacation, but by the time I realized my error, the box was already on the way.

Either way, it worked out okay because there were some winners (and some losers, as always) in my box. So onto what Diane sent me!

Outfit Outtakes #2 & NYFW Giveaway

It’s been a long while since I shared some outfit outtakes, and I thought today would be as good as time as any to do just that! My first outfit outtakes post was almost exactly one year ago, and trust me when I say I’ve collected quite a few horrible, hilarious, and unflattering photos since. I rounded up about 8 of the absolute goofiest shots to share, and hope you enjoy getting a good laugh out of my misfortune.

And then… the wind came up.

I Wanted To Be a Fashion Designer

I was reminded when writing about my #FaceForward and future goals that I never wanted to work in technology. Not really, anyway. I had dreams of going to New York and being a fashion designer. Mind you, this was before the Project Runway days so I truly had a very limited picture of what the grueling behind-the-scenes life of a fashion designer looked like, but still, that’s what I was convinced I wanted to do.

I Wanted to be a Fashion Designer (But Why I Didn't Follow That Dream) // hellorigby seattle fashion blog

I wouldn’t say that my parents particularly discouraged it, but my mom definitely did not encourage me to move so far away. For most of my childhood, my mom was known as the “quilt lady.” To say that sewing was in my blood is an understatement. I spent most of my childhood either wrapped in a quilt my mom made, or someone else she met along the way had made. I learned to sew when I was about 5 or 6 and entered my first quilt in the local state fair. (Nerd alert!) I ended up taking home multiple ribbons, including Best in Show (for my age category… not the big leagues!), first place, and a few other awards.

Stitch Fix August 2015 Review & Giveaway

Another month, another Stitch Fix! I always get excited to receive a package on my doorstep every other month or so from Stitch Fix. To recap, Stitch Fix is a clothing service that you can schedule monthly or to fit your schedule. For a $20 styling fee (which is put towards anything you keep) you’ll receive a box of 4 clothing items and one accessory. They pick items based on your size and style profile. It’s always a fun surprise to see what my stylist, Kimberly, has picked out for me. This month I totally spaced it and hadn’t updated my Pinterest Fashion Board with anything from Stitch Fix I’d been eyeing, so it was interesting to see what Kimberly had picked for me on her own!

Overall, I think she did an awesome job, but to be honest, after the #NSale shopping I was feeling a little guilty and decided not to keep anything for myself. However, I did still keep something… but it’s for one of you! Read on to find out what I received this month, and what I’m giving away. :)
